Human-centered design as a guide to intervention planning for non communicable diseases: the BIGPIC study from Western Kenya

Non-communicable disease (NCD) care in Sub-Saharan Africa is challenging due to barriers including poverty and insufficient health system resources. Local culture and context can impact the success of interventions and should be integrated early in intervention design. Human-centered design (HCD) is a methodology that can be used to engage stakeholders in intervention design and evaluation to tailor-make interventions to meet their specific needs.

8 Elements of person-centred care of older people in primary healthcare: a systematic literature review with thematic analysis

Higher life expectancy in the ageing population and, consequently, anincrease in the older population bring additional challenges for healthcare pro-viders, especially in primary healthcare. The person-centred care of older people isdefined as an approach that puts older people at the centre of care and recognizesthe importance of their needs. The chapter aims to identify the key elements of per-son-centred care for older people, in primary healthcare.

Integrated care models in Swiss primary care: An embedded multiple case study

Healthcare systems are confronted with a rising number of patients with chronic conditions and complex care needs, requiring the development of new models of coordinated, patient-centred care. In this study, we aimed to describe and compare a range of new models of care recently implemented in primary care in Switzerland, as well as to gain insight into the type of coordination or integration implemented, the strengths and weaknesses of each model and the challenges they face.
